History

Esperanza College was birthed from a tugging at the heart to impact the lives of people beyond the Sunday morning pulpit. It was, and is, a college unique to any other; an institution of redemption, grace and hope. This tug was felt by a group of Hispanic pastors in North Philadelphia in 1982 as they rallied together to serve a community suffering from poverty, unstable housing, low educational attainment, and high crime. The result was the creation of the Hispanic Clergy and in 1987, they developed a non-profit organization, called Nueva Esperanza Inc.

Mathematics Program Overview

The Esperanza College Associate of Science in Mathematics offers a rigorous program designed for students interested in pursuing mathematics-related careers, such as engineering. As students in this concentration investigate areas of algebra, statistics, and calculus, they expand their understanding of values, calculation, and various abstract concepts that are the foundation to further study in mathematics-related fields.

Students in this program also take courses in the physical sciences as well as courses in the humanities, including faith and reasoning, to further develop their abilities to solve problems and think critically. This rounded, explorative approach sets our students apart as they continue further studies and research. Students have the opportunity to discover and articulate how their faith life enlightens their chosen academic pathway.

The need for graduates in mathematics, science, technology, and engineering is great and continues to grow, opening a wide range of career opportunities such as computer scientist, economist, research analyst, and statistician.
